About Dale's Quails: Our Family's Homesteading Journey.

Surprise! We’re not some fancy manufacturing empire—yep, mind blown, right? Stick around to learn who we are, what we’re up to, and why we’re crazy enough to do it!

Meet the Misfit Crew

Hey there, I’m Dale, your self-appointed tour guide into the wild world of Dale’s Quails! Spoiler alert: we’re no experts—unless you count mastering the art of epic mistakes and laughing them off. We’re a small-time homestead crew, not a big operation, designing and building quail cage kits and supplies when we’re not tripping over our own feet. Tucked away in a pint-sized town in Southeast Wisconsin, we wrangle our just-under-an-acre plot like champs. Our garage? Ha! It’s a brooding room, woodshop, equipment shed, and everything-but-a-garage—sorry, cars, you’re out in the cold!

The Dale’s Quails team is a family affair: me, my better half Bonnie (the real brains), and our three pint-sized helpers. Bonnie tackles wire cutting, box assembly, pre-packaging supply bags, and wrangles the office chaos like a pro. I handle the designing, building, assembling, shipping, and most of the yakking with our amazing supporters. Our kiddos pitch in with husbandry cleaning, shop tidying, and are currently mastering tools—yes, that wobbly hole or wonky staple in your order might be the handiwork of our 5-year-old farmer-in-training (homeschool perk: free labor with a side of giggles!). No CNC machines, assembly lines, or private shipping fleets here—just a whole lot of heart, grit, and a dash of homesteader stubbornness.

Life on the Homestead

Our little slice of heaven hosts quail, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, a duck, goats, and pigs—basically a barnyard circus! We’ve got a 4,500-square-foot main garden, fruit trees, and smaller beds for livestock grub. We grow nearly 90% of what our family eats yearly, supplemented by hunting, fishing, and foraging—because who needs a grocery store when you’ve got a backyard buffet? In winter, we crank up the hydroponics to keep the fresh eats coming through subzero madness. Our front yard? A free-for-all community herb and veggie garden—take what you need, neighbors, we’ve got plenty! We also sponsor the school’s community garden, have 4H kids, and volunteer at local events. Free processing workshops and on-site permaculture/garden planning consults? You bet—we’re all about giving back more than we take.

Sure, we love churning out affordable quail cages, but our real passion is teaching this self-reliant lifestyle. We aim to keep lead times under two weeks, though supply delays, equipment hiccups, rough lumber, animal care (so much poo!), gardening, or the occasional family day might throw a wrench in the works. It’s all part of the homestead rollercoaster!
